Job summary

Sentry is seeking a Software Developer or Software Engineer in Nashville to join a full-stack, cloud-first development environment. You’ll contribute to designing, building, testing, and maintaining software solutions with a focus on delivering high-quality code and ownership of your tasks.

The role offers opportunities for growth, access to learning resources, and a hybrid work arrangement that supports collaboration in the office and remote work from home on select days.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent related work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and software development concepts.
  • Experience in Vue.js or other JavaScript frameworks; Spring and Java; Android or iOS a plus.

  • Complete assigned tasks on time while adhering to established software development practices.
  • Actively participate in team discussions and openly communicating status and effort.
  • Engage in the design, development, and implementation of new and existing programs or solutions.
  • Demonstrate ownership over the quality of assigned tasks, preparing test scripts and conducting tests on both new and existing solutions.
  • Actively engage in team delivery functions such as design reviews, code reviews, and scrum meetings.
  • Build an understanding of relevant business domains to enhance your work product.

What it Takes
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent related work experience. Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in one or more programming languages and software development concepts. Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to the role preferred.
    • Experience in Vue.js or other JavaScript frameworks.
    • Experience with Spring and Java.
    • Experience with Android or iOS a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design principles and development best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
