Job summary

DS2 is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer in Florida to join a mission-critical software team. You’ll develop Windows desktop and Android apps, build AI-powered microservices, and collaborate in an agile environment to deliver reliable solutions.

You’ll work with MVVM on WPF, Kotlin/Java for Android, and containerized services while exploring new technologies and providing demonstrations to stakeholders. A U.S. Citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Has a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a similar field and 3 years of experience.
• Actively programs in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Strong time-management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Collaborates well with teammates, both remote and in-person, to plan and present solutions.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Windows desktop apps using WPF with MVVM.
• Develop and deploy Android apps using Kotlin or Java.
• Create distributed AI-powered apps with microservices in containers.
• Design, develop, deploy, and demo applications for clients.
• Work in an agile team to organize, manage, and complete product work.
• Test, peer review, and CI/CD changes to the code base.
• Research and prototype for R&D projects.
• Learn emerging technologies to stay current with the team.

Responsibilities — What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain applications using Windows desktop technologies like WPF using MVVM patterns
• Develop and deploy a variety of Android applications using Kotlin or Java
• Build distributed mission-critical AI-powered applications using microservices deployed via containers
• Play a key role in designing, developing, deploying, and demonstrating applications
• Be a part of an agile team that works together to organize, manage, and complete their work on products
• Work with your team to test, develop, peer review, and continuously integrate changes into the code base
• Conduct research for, report on, and create proof-of-concepts and prototypes for R&D projects
• Learn emerging technologies and programming tools to keep you and your team as well equipped as possible

Required Qualifications — We need someone who:

• Has a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field and 3 years of experience
• Actively programs with one or more of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Typescript
• Is a motivated and energetic developer that manages time well and can prioritize tasks to ensure projects are completed on time
• Engages with teammates, both virtually and face-to-face, to plan projects, seek out or provide help on issues, as well as present solutions to clients
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications — Bonus points if you:

• Have experience using Windows Presentation Foundation for .Net Desktop Development
• Have experience using Web frameworks such as React, Node.js, Vue.js, Next.js, ASP.NET, or Angular
• Have any experience developing cross platform applications using Kotlin Multiplatform or .Net MAUI
• Have a background in developing mission planning applications for the DoW
• Can demonstrate proficiency with AI-Assisted software development workflows
• Have proven experience building Android applications using Java or Kotlin
• Can build robust, scalable, event-driven, backends that are service-based or use structures such as microservices using containerization (Docker)
• Have any experience with Android Tactical Assault Kit development (TAK, ATAK, WinTAK)
