Job summary

Ironclad in San Francisco is hiring an engineer to build tooling that speeds up development. You’ll own local development environments, improve builds and tests, and enhance Kubernetes tooling to empower product teams.

You’ll contribute to Backstage catalogs and support release automation while collaborating with fellow engineers. You should have 2–4 years of software engineering experience, strong TypeScript/JavaScript (Go or Python) skills, and a passion for developer tooling and cross-team

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of software engineering experience; formal degree not required.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript; Go or Python.
• Comfort with shell scripting and the command line.
• Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD concepts.
• Interest in developer tooling, infrastructure, and helping engineers work more effectively.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills.
• Alignment with Ironclad’s values: drive, intent, integrity, empathy.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain tooling for engineers’ local development environments.
• Make builds, tests, and CI faster and more reliable; troubleshoot failures.
• Improve Kubernetes tooling for autonomous product changes by teams.
• Develop catalog entries, templates, and plugins for Backstage portal.
• Support releases through Kargo and improve release automation.
• Join rotation; document solutions and turn recurring problems into tooling improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
