GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a Software Engineer to build cutting-edge Iris platform solutions. Remote work with 10% travel to the DMV region, US citizenship required and residency in contiguous US. Reports to VP of Engineering in a dynamic team focused on delivering high-quality software.

The role emphasizes designing, implementing, and maintaining production-grade software across the full development lifecycle with strong emphasis on DevOps, CI/CD, and scalable architectures.

Competenze

• Minimum 7 years in a software engineering role.
• Expert in at least one language with strong experience in Python, React, or Java.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google) and other providers.
• Design, build, scale, and maintain production software.

Software Engineer

Location: Remote / Alexandria, VA

Clearance: Active TS/SCI or eligibility to be cleared

GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Engineer to build cutting-edge solutions within our Iris platform. You’ll be essential to the digital offering which is broken into a technological stack that is comprised of a source, engine, analytic, and a story layer. The engineering team is the technological backbone of the Iris platform working in the ‘engine layer’ to discover the ground truth. You’ll work with a team of engineers and developers designing tools to provide technical solutions to complex questions. The ideal candidate is creative, a problem solver, developer, designer, and appreciates delivering high-quality products. This position will report to the VP of Engineering.

This position is 100% remote! It does require 10% travel to the DMV region. The candidate MUST be a US citizen and reside in the contiguous United States. The candidate must be a W2 employee of GeoDelphi, Inc. No 3rd party applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain application phases.
• Contribute in all phases of the development life cycle
• Write well-designed, testable, efficient code
• Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
• Recommend changes to improve established application processes
• Prepare and produce releases of software components
• Develop application code programs
• Develop and execute unit test plans
• Support formal testing and resolve test defects
• Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions

EXPERIENCE

• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a software engineering role

• Expert with at least one language and desire good experience with several others (Python, React, Java, etc.)
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google, Rackspace
• Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software
• Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability in your work.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes
• Demonstrated experience with continuous integration and software CM processes/tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, and other DevOps/Continuous Integration tools)
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization
• Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
• Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within small teams

DESIRED SKILLS

• Experience interacting with AWS SDK, AWS API, AWS CLI, and AWS CloudFormation
• Experience with population simulation, or other data simulation
• Experience with geospatial engineering
• Experience with Big Data processing tools, such as Spark/Hadoop, Google’s BigQuery, AWS’s Athena and EMR
• Strong data visualization skills
