About the role and the team

At eBay we deal with petabytes of data that is processed, queried, visualized and analyzed at a rapid basis. Data & Metrics is to build and operate a Secure, Highly Available, Fully Automated, Cloud Native, Online, Streaming and Offline Analytics Platform favoring Data Mesh architecture to address these data needs.

What you will accomplish

• Design entire solutions independently for business challenges or products; coach and guide development team members in implementations.
• Collaborate with senior technical members, product managers, architects, and engineering teams to ensure quality and efficiency of product delivery.
• Define, design, and enforce industrial best practices in an innovative and scalable way within eBay’s environment.
• Communicate and present ideas effectively to all levels of management, technical and non-technical audiences.
• Drive energy and questions that foster ideation and creative design, encouraging higher-level thinking.

What you will bring

• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in CS, EE, or equivalent.
• 6+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in big data or machine learning areas.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ambition.
• Deep understanding of Java or Python; web development skills, middleware like Spring Boot, databases, caches; and Big Data tech stacks such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka.
• Clean coding habits, attention to detail, focus on quality and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
• Experience contributing to open source projects is a plus.
• Experience working in a multinational company is a plus.
