Job summary

Cisco is seeking an intern to develop advanced data pipelines and ML infrastructure, building analytics platforms across its business groups. Qualifications

• Enrollment in CS/engineering or related field with ongoing studies.
• Education/workforce development programs accepted (apprenticeship, boot camp, certification).
• Continue enrollment after internship.
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and OOP.
• Foundational knowledge of ML/AI concepts.
• Familiarity with SQL, data processing frameworks, ML libraries, or cloud platforms.
• Ability to learn new technologies.
• Hands-on AI/ML experience and cloud familiarity preferred.
• Cloud familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred.

Build analytics platforms within Cisco business groups including S&TO, Supply Chain, and Engineering
Develop and maintain software tools and platforms supporting AI and data-driven insights
Build reliable, scalable data infrastructure for operational excellence and strategic growth
Apply programming, data systems, and software engineering fundamentals to solve complex challenges
Collaborate with team members across Cisco’s global AI and data infrastructure organization

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (Associate's or Bachelor's), or an educational/workforce development program such as an Apprenticeship, Boot camp, or Certification
• Qualifying education and work experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT, or a related program
• Expected to continue enrollment in a degree or qualifying educational/workforce development program after completing the internship
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
• Foundational knowledge of data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related concepts
• Familiarity with data technologies and tools such as SQL, data processing frameworks, machine learning libraries, or cloud platforms
• Ability to learn and apply new technologies
• Preferred: hands‑on experience with AI/ML
• Preferred: familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Preferred: proficiency in Python and TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
• Preferred: familiarity with Apache Spark, Hadoop, Apache Flink, Docker, or Kubernetes
• Preferred: understanding of distributed systems concepts and distributed computing patterns
