Job description

  • Pantheon is building the next generation of web content infrastructure — a real-time, collaborative platform that redefines how teams create, publish, and manage content on the modern web
  • Content management has been largely unchanged for two decades
  • We are changing that
  • As a Software Engineer II on this team, you will be an early engineer on a founding‑stage product with real momentum behind it
  • You will build features end‑to‑end, contribute to architectural decisions, and work alongside a small, senior team that moves fast and cares deeply about craft
  • This is not a role where you wait for tickets — it is a role where you help define what gets built and how
  • You will work across the full stack — backend services, APIs, and frontend systems — building the core capabilities of a real‑time collaborative content platform
  • You will work closely with a small team of engineers, as well as product and design partners, to ship features that developers and content teams rely on every day
  • This team is early‑stage by design
  • The product is being defined as it is built, and every engineer on the team has a meaningful voice in that process
  • If you are energized by that kind of environment, this is the right place
  • Build and ship full‑stack features across backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces
  • Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code with shared ownership of quality
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions as an active participant, not just an implementer
  • Collaborate closely with product and design to translate requirements into working, well‑crafted software
  • Integrate AI tooling into your development workflow and into the product itself
  • Participate in code review and help maintain a high engineering bar across the team
  • Learn and grow quickly — this is a team that will stretch you in the best possible way
Benefits
  • Health & Wellness: Taking care of you and your family is important to us. Our healthcare benefits program delivers choice and value so you can prioritize your health
  • Remote & In‑Office: We believe in a flexible employee experience, our San Francisco office is a center for collaboration and connection, but it’s not the only place this happens
  • Flexible Time‑Off: We encourage work/life balance. Take time off when you need it, and return ready to make magic on the internet when you’re ready and refreshed
  • Monthly Book & Gym Allowance: One of the many ways we enable our team to take control of their development and wellness is to take advantage of our books and gym membership allowance
  • Promoting Inclusivity: We strive to have a culture where Pantheors across the globe feel a high sense of belonging and engagement. We have several programs in place to help cultivate inclusion at Pantheon, including educational events, open forums, and training opportunities
  • Giving Back: We believe in cultivating passion and giving back to the community we live and work in. Pantheon offers a Donation Matching program of $500 per employee and holds multiple team volunteer opportunities throughout the year
  • Employee Resource Groups: Our Pantheon Resource Groups (PRGs) allow employees to connect, support each other, and spread awareness
  • Professional Development: We support employee learning and development through company led‑training, leadership forums, and full access to LinkedIn Learning’s catalogue of courses
Requirements
  • Experience with modern API design: REST, GraphQL, or webhooks
  • You are actively building with AI — using it in your development workflow or integrating it into the products you work on
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend language
  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong fundamentals: you write tests, understand tradeoffs, and think about maintainability
  • Comfortable working in cloud‑native environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Solid full‑stack capability — you have shipped production code on both backend and frontend, and you are willing to stretch into whichever side a problem requires
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
