Job summary

RTX is seeking a motivated student to contribute to the design, development, and validation of embedded software for aerospace avionics in Cedar Rapids. You will work on real-time embedded systems, interfacing with hardware in a lab, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing a STEM degree (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • 40 hours per week commitment.
  • Minimum of 60 credit hours by start of internship/co-op.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for aviation solutions and avionics products.
  • Contribute to cross-functional team responsible for design, development, and verification of real-time embedded software.
  • Assist with requirements specification, software implementation, test case development, verification testing, and certification support.

What You Will Do
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for commercial aviation solutions and avionics products
  • Contribute to assigned cross-functional engineering project team responsible for the design, development, and verification of real-time embedded software
  • Support project team activities related to the specification of requirements, software implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification support

Work with desktop computer in an office environment and with target hardware in an engineering lab to achieve the goal of delivering a high-quality software product within schedule and cost constraints

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline
  • Must be willing to work 40 hours per week
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/ Co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Demonstrated interest in embedded software solutions and board-level device drivers
  • Programming experience in C, C++ and/or Python
  • Comfortable with real-time operating system and object-oriented programming concepts
  • Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Energetic and proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal and communications skills

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
