Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance distributed systems that power AWS Network Firewall's traffic inspection and filtering capabilities.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in languages such as Java, Python, or C++ to deliver features that protect customer networks at cloud scale.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, architect solutions, and drive implementation of new firewall features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems, contributing to operational excellence through on-call rotations and root cause analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and documentation efforts to uphold engineering best practices and raise the bar for team quality.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle—from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and monitoring in a CI/CD environment.
• Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and security while reducing operational burden through automation and tooling.
