Job summary

Constellation Technologies is seeking a Senior Cloud/Big Data Software Engineer with TS/SCI clearance to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based data processing systems. You will work on MapReduce analytics, distributed coordination, and multi-node deployments across secure environments.

The role requires deep expertise in cloud technologies, security, and big-data tooling, with opportunities for leadership and architecture responsibilities across Maryland and other locations.

Qualifications

• Requires TS/SCI clearance with active polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, with 12 years of relevant experience; four years can substitute for degree.
• Four years of experience with Big‑Data cloud technologies or distributed computing.
• Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• Cloudera Hadoop Developer cert may substitute for one year of cloud experience.
• Two years of cloud and/or distributed computing information retrieval.
• Experience with cloud and distributed computing technologies (HDFS, MapReduce, Zookeeper, etc.).
• Knowledge of security in cloud-based distributed systems and networking controls.

Responsibilities

• Implement complex Cloud MapReduce analytics workflows.
• Implement code interacting with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• Oversee software development tasks and ensure alignment with process standards.
• Serve as SME for Cloud Computing technologies (Hadoop, etc.).

Qualifications

• Four (04) years of experience in programs utilizing Big‑Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
• Master’s in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (02) years of experience.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (01) year of Cloud experience.
• Two (02) years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).
• One (01) year of experience with implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table.
• One (01) year of experience with implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed File System.
• One (01) year of experience with implementing complex MapReduce analytics.
• One (01) year of experience with implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• One (01) year of experience in architecting Cloud Computing solutions.

• Experience in Information Assurance: Securing Cloud Based and Distributed applications through industry standard techniques such as Firewalls, PKI Certificate and Server Authentication with experience in Corporate authentication service(s).
• Experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming, Java, Eclipse or similar development environment, MAVEN, RESTful web services.
• Experience with Cloud and Distributed Computing Technologies: at least one or a combination of several of the following areas – YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, Concurrent Programming, Multi‑Node implementation/installation and other applicable technologies.
• Experience with Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval: at least one or a combination of several of the following areas – HDFS, HBASE, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, MongoDB.
• Experience with Ingesting, Parsing and Analysis of Disparate Data‑sources and formats: XML, JSON, CSV, Binary Formats, Sequence or Map Files, Avro and related technologies.
• Experience in Debugging and Profiling Cloud and Distributed Installations: Java Virtual Machine (JVM) memory management, Profiling Java Applications.
• Experience with CentOS, Linux/RedHat; Configuration management tools such as Subversion, ClearQuest, or Razor.
• Experience with FORNSAT, CABLE, Terrestrial/Microwave, Overhead, and ELINT.
• Experience with Geolocation, emitter identification, and signal applications.
• Experience with Joint program collection platforms and dataflow architectures; signals characterization analysis.
• Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval, assist the software development team in designing, developing and testing Cloud Information Retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance.
• Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering.
• Recommend new technologies and processes for complex cloud software projects.
• Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
• Architect solutions to complex Cloud Software Engineering Problems such as efficiently processing and retrieving large amounts of data.
