Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $155,000.00/yr

Join a mission-driven tech team working to build backend systems that support a meaningful cause—making nutritious food accessible and affordable for everyone. In this role, you'll help shape and scale the infrastructure that powers web and mobile applications used by millions. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and registered dietitians to develop robust APIs and data integrations that connect people to personalized nutrition services. This is a remote opportunity ideal for an experienced backend engineer with a passion for purpose, scalable systems, and performance optimization.

Accountabilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems that support core functionalities of web applications
• Collaborate with frontend developers to develop robust and scalable APIs
• Work closely with product managers to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Implement development best practices including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration
• Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability and scalability
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including server-side and database-level problems
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance backend capabilities
• Support the ongoing improvement of infrastructure, system reliability, and team processes
  
  
  

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation
• Proficiency with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB; experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift) is a plus
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, SQS, RDS, and EC2
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications; Kubernetes experience is a bonus
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience with low-code platforms like Retool is a plus
• Strong version control experience using Git
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
