Job summary

CaseGuard is seeking a highly independent Software Engineer to join our backend team. You will build REST API microservices using ASP.NET Core (C#) and craft cloud infrastructure with IaC in AWS, all while contributing to a collaborative file redaction tool and its advanced features.

You will model data, design scalable APIs, and develop CPU/memory-optimized workers, participating in architectural discussions to guide system design and service structure from our Arlington, VA base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/SE.
• 2+ years backend experience with REST APIs.
• Strong OOP fundamentals and ability to handle ambiguity.
• Experience with SQL and data modeling.
• Experience with Redis or distributed caching.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly independent and proactive Software Engineer to join our backend team and play a critical role in building REST API microservices from scratch using ASP.NET Core (C#) and building cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in AWS. In this role, you will contribute to collaborative file redacting tool with exciting features like live editing, image processing and more

What you will do:

• Model business domains into relational/NoSQL data structures
• Design and build scalable REST APIs for our microservices using ASP.NET Core (C#).
• Build heavy file-processing workers optimized for CPU/memory/throughput
• Design AWS infrastructure with IaC
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to decisions for system design and service structure.

Qualifications (Required):

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experiences
• 2+ years backend experience with REST APIs
• Strong OOP fundamentals and critical thinking under ambiguity
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, including schema design, indexes, and transactions.
• Experience with Redis or distributed caching.
• A track record of modeling business logic into databases
• Comfort working independently on complex, underspecified problems

Qualifications (It’s a plus):

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and fault-tolerance patterns.
• Familiarity with API design patterns such as Clean Architecture.
• Experience processing PDFs, images, videos, or other large binary files.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Practical knowledge of IaC tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., SNS, SQS, EventBridge).
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming and multi-threading in C#.
• Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer)
