Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures is hiring an engineer to join a small team building AI-powered data solutions for alternative investment firms. This customer-facing, forward-deployed role combines product engineering with applied AI to translate customer needs into production software.

You will work directly with asset managers to understand data challenges, own delivery from discovery to deployment, and shape technical roadmaps tied to business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 1–6 years of software engineering experience with interest in customer-facing AI work.
• Experience delivering full-stack products across backend, frontend and AI layers.
• Strong Python skills; familiarity with FastAPI, Temporal and React.
• Experience owning technical roadmaps and translating customer needs.
• Comfort working through ambiguity and managing customer relationships.
• Degree in computer science or CS+math background.

About the Role

• Work directly with asset managers and their portfolio companies to understand data challenges and develop AI-powered solutions.
• Own delivery from customer discovery through production deployment across backend, frontend, and AI systems.
• Shape customer-specific technical roadmaps and connect product decisions to business outcomes.
• Use LLMs and AI agents in your daily work, building on the team's internal AI infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the founding team in a high-autonomy environment with broad ownership.

What We're Looking For

• One to six years of software engineering experience, with interest in customer-facing applied AI work.
• Experience delivering full-stack products across backend, frontend, and AI layers, ideally in an early-stage startup environment.
• Strong Python skills and familiarity with FastAPI, Temporal, React, and production software development.
• Experience owning technical roadmaps and translating customer needs into practical technical solutions.
• Comfort working through ambiguity, managing customer relationships, and taking increasing ownership.
• A degree in computer science or a combined computer science and mathematics background.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $165,000 to $290,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

This is an on-site role in New York, United States, five days per week.
