Job summary

Centex Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer 4 to design, build, test, and sustain complex software capabilities while providing senior technical leadership across the delivery lifecycle. This role suits an experienced professional who enjoys owning difficult work and collaborating with technical, program, and customer teams.

In this remote U.S. position, you will translate requirements into designs, develop secure and testable software, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or related field, or equivalent directly relevant experience.
• Seven or more years of professional software engineering delivering production systems.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one relevant language and strong knowledge of software design, APIs, data, testing, source control, and secure development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work from unclear requirements through reliable delivery.

Responsibilities

• Translate product, system, and customer requirements into maintainable software designs and technical plans.
• Develop secure, testable, observable code for complex features, services, integrations, and data workflows.
• Create automated unit, integration, contract, and system tests and maintain effective code-review standards.
• Diagnose complex defects and production issues across application, data, API, and infrastructure boundaries.
• Break down ambiguous work, identify dependencies and risks, and guide implementation across contributors.
• Mentor engineers, facilitate design reviews, and raise engineering standards without relying on formal authority.

Work Arrangement

This is a remote U.S. position. Occasional travel or work outside normal hours may be required based on customer and program needs.

• Experience with cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, DevSecOps, and software supply-chain security.
