Job summary

Cornerstone Defense LLC is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to develop, sustain, and troubleshoot the GhostGem suite, including DINO, for mission applications. You will work with COTS, GOTS, and FOSS components, emphasizing Linux-based development and automation to support secure defense programs.

The role requires strong Python experience, scripting, and familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure as code practices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus three (3) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, sustain, and troubleshoot GHOSTGEM's software suite of applications including DINO and possibly future capabilities as mission needs arise.
• Perform software development activities including implementation, testing, and integration with other COTS, GOTS, and FOSS products, packages, and libraries.

• Experience using the Linux CLI
• Experience using Linux tools and developing Bash scripts to automate manual processes
• Recent software development experience using Python
• Willingness to learn Splunk for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools
• Familiar interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog
• Familiar Message Brokers such as Kafka
• Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools including Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI
• Experience with Git Source Control System Position Desired Skills
• Experience with SQL databases including PostgreSQL
• Familiar with IaC principles, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible
• Experience with Rust programming concepts, or a willingness and aptitude to learn Rust
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence
