GE HealthCare seeks a Software Engineer for CT Image Generation (Platform) to design, develop, and maintain the software platform and runtime infrastructure that powers reconstruction and imaging algorithms in production. You will build high-performance components for multicore CPUs, GPUs, and heterogeneous environments while collaborating with algorithm developers and product teams.
The role emphasizes platform capabilities, APIs, tooling, automation, and engineering best practices.
Job Description Summary Software Engineer – CT Image Generation (Platform) The team behind industry-leading CT scanners is seeking highly motivated software engineers to help build the next generation of medical imaging technology.
Every CT image a radiologist interprets passes through our software. We transform raw detector measurements into clinically meaningful images that help physicians diagnose strokes, detect tumors, identify fractures, and guide critical patient care decisions. This work requires balancing image quality, computational performance, radiation dose, and the realities of clinical workflows. Our team operates at the intersection of software engineering, applied mathematics, high-performance computing, and medical device development. Almost no engineer arrives with expertise in all these areas, and that is expected. The engineers who thrive here are deeply curious, learn rapidly, embrace challenging and ambiguous problems and are willing to step outside their comfort zone to develop new skills. We are looking for engineers who take ownership, continuously seek to improve, and are motivated by solving meaningful problems that have a direct impact on patient care. Success in this role comes not from knowing everything on day one, but from having the curiosity, resilience, and drive to learn, contribute, and grow into increasingly complex technical challenges.
Demonstrate proficiency in the team's development environment, including C++, Linux, CI/CD workflows, and GPU-accelerated computing. Build sufficient domain knowledge to participate in technical design discussions and influence implementation decisions. Contribute code that is maintainable, well-tested, and meets medical device quality standards. Deliver software features, platform enhancements, or performance optimizations that become part of a released CT product.
