Job summary

GE HealthCare in Wisconsin is seeking a CT Systems Engineer to collaborate with a cross-functional team to define and develop new CT product technologies, with emphasis on image quality, system safety and calibration.

The role focuses on implementing design improvements, leading technical design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers, while working in our Waukesha facility full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time.
• Willingness to work in the Waukesha, WI facility full-time.
• Experience with image quality, CT imaging fundamentals is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work with a broad cross-functional team.
• Work across functions and boundaries to implement and optimize system level image quality and dose management features for new products and technology roadmaps.
• Use broad technical expertise to evaluate and tune complex designs focusing on image quality, calibration and dose management.
• Provide domain expertise to own/lead technical design reviews and risk investigations.
• Develop methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on system performance and image quality.
• Develop requirements for key system performance parameters related to image quality, safety, performance and calibration.
• Drive system trade-off discussions within new product developments by understanding system architecture and interfaces.
• Investigate customer questions and provide technical answers and solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for project execution.
• Implement and teach engineering principles and standards.
• Drive innovation for competitive technical differentiation.
• Mentor junior engineers in area of expertise.

Job Description Summary

The CT Systems Engineer works in close collaboration with a cross-functional team made up of engineers, scientists, product management, clinical applications, researchers, customers, marketing and other field teams to define and develop new product technologies to meet customer needs. The Systems Engineer position distinguishes itself through a high emphasis on implementing and evaluating new product innovations and a strong focus on image/signal quality, system safety, and system calibration to drive significant design improvements in product architecture.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Work with a broad cross-functional team
• Working across functions and team boundaries to implement and optimize system level image quality and dose management features for new products and technology roadmaps
• Use broad technical expertise and experience to evaluate and tune complex designs focusing on the areas of image quality, calibration and dose management
• Providing domain expertise to own/lead technical design reviews, investigation of technical risks, as well as providing innovative solutions to achieve optimal system performance
• Developing methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on system performance and image quality
• Developing requirements for key system performance parameters as they relate to image quality, system safety, performance and calibration
• Driving system tradeoff discussions within new product developments by having a full understanding of system architecture and interfaces
• Investigating customer questions and complaints to provide technical answers and solutions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field
• Ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems
• Effective communication skills - ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
• Ability to pursue tasks to completion
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full‑time
• Must be willing to work in our Waukesha, WI facility full‑time

Desired Characteristics

• 2 years relevant industrial or academic experience
• Strong understanding of X-ray physics, CT physics, CT imaging and image/signal processing fundamentals
• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field
• Demonstrated record of innovation in technology development
• Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis, modeling and simulations
• Experience with CT specific device operation and troubleshooting issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with research collaborations
• Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
• Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
• Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy‑in for initiatives
