GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a Software Engineer to build cutting-edge solutions for our Answers platform. You will work on back-end engineering across an engine layer, collaborating with a team to deliver high-quality software from design to release.

The role emphasizes Java and Python coding, DevOps practices, and CI/CD toolchains within a fully remote environment. You will report to the VP of Engineering and engage with cross-functional teams to fulfill client requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software.
• Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability.
• Proficient in Java and Python.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and software development processes.
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD tools and software configuration management (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization.
• Experience gathering client requirements and translating them into deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, design, implement, and test software geared towards population simulation.
• Collaborate with customers to define project requirements and translate them into achievable timelines.
• Work with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support back-end solutions.
• Write well designed, tested, and efficient code in Java and Python.
• Recommend changes to improve established application processes.
• Prepare and produce releases of software components.
• Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions.

Software Engineer

GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Engineer to build cutting-edge solutions within our Answers platform. You'll be essential to our Answers platform digital offering which is broken into a technological stack that is comprised of a source, engine, analytic, and a story layer. The engineering team is the technological backbone of our Answers platform working in the 'engine layer' to discover the ground truth. You'll work with a team of engineers and developers designing tools to provide technical solutions to complex questions. The ideal candidate is creative, a problem solver, developer, designer, and appreciates delivering high-quality products. This position will report to the VP of Engineering.

This position is 100% remote! The candidate MUST be a US citizen and reside in the contiguous United States. The candidate must be a W2 employee of GeoDelphi, Inc. No 3rd party applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research, develop, design, implement, and test software geared towards population simulation
• Work with customers/end users to define project requirements, and turn those requirements into an achievable timeline
• Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in back-end development tools and technologies
• Write well designed, testable, and efficient code in various languages, primarily Java.
• Recommend changes to improve established application processes
• Prepare and produce releases of software components
• Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions

EXPERIENCE

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a software engineering role
• Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software
• Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability in your work.
• Utilize programming languages such as Java and Python
• Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes
• Demonstrated experience with continuous integration and software CM processes/tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, and other DevOps/Continuous Integration tools)
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization
• Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization

DESIRED SKILLS

• Experience with population simulation, or other data simulation
• Experience with geospatial engineering
• Experience with Big Data processing tools, such as Spark/Hadoop, Google's BigQuery, AWS's Athena and EMR
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google, Azure
• Strong data visualization skills
