Boeing's Phantom Works in Berkeley, MO is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate space-based software systems with a focus on Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS). You will lead software tasks, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and ensure security and performance standards, contributing to national security and aerospace advancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, CS, data science, physics, or related field.
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years in software development project leadership.
  • Proficiency in Java and/or C++.
  • MATLAB experience (≥1 year).
  • Preferred: advanced degrees, physics-based modeling software.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works team in Berkeley, MO. This position is ideal for an experienced or senior-level professional holding an active Top Secret Security Clearance. The successful candidate will support the Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions within Phantom Works, focusing on developing advanced software for space-based effects supporting air domain missions. This role requires a proactive individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, solving complex problems with ingenuity and innovation, and staying adaptable to new technologies and development environments. The engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and integrating software systems that meet stringent security and performance standards, contributing directly to national security and aerospace advancements.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, physics, or related fields, along with extensive professional experience. An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory. Candidates should have at least five years of software engineering experience, with proficiency in Java and/or C++ object-oriented programming. Experience leading software development projects for three or more years and familiarity with MATLAB for at least one year are also required. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, experience with physics-based modeling software, and familiarity with DevSecOps practices. Strong communication skills, customer orientation, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the planning and execution of software development tasks, including detailed design, coding, and comprehensive testing of features and user stories, ensuring all acceptance criteria are met.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into detailed software requirements and models, maintaining clear traceability throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Conduct system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, leading mitigation efforts during the software development process.

  • Oversee code reviews to ensure compliance with requirements and standards, fostering code quality and consistency.

  • Monitor testing activities, verify completion, and address issues during verification processes to ensure software reliability and performance.

  • Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards, tracking team and supplier performance to meet project goals.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, sharing expertise and fostering professional growth within the team.

  • Interface with various programming languages and development tools, ensuring seamless integration and system interoperability.
