Job summary

• 3+ years of professional software development experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript, and SQL Server.
• Experience developing backend applications, APIs, web services, and enterprise system integrations.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining engineering standards.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities

We're seeking a Software Engineer for a client in Northern Virginia! In this role, you'll join a collaborative team focused on developing and supporting backend applications, APIs, and enterprise integrations that support operations in the mortgage industry. You'll partner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, reliable technology solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and support applications and backend services using C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Microsoft technologies.
• Build and support system plugins, extensions, and client-side functionality using JavaScript.
• Develop and maintain APIs, services, and integrations between internal systems and third-party mortgage, settlement, and financial services platforms.
• Partner with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and engineering peers to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
• Troubleshoot application and integration issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable long-term solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Take ownership of projects and assignments from design through deployment and ongoing support.
• Contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional team environment focused on innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript, and SQL Server.
• Experience developing backend applications, APIs, web services, and enterprise system integrations.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies, to improve productivity while maintaining strong engineering standards, code quality, and security practices.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and deliver effective solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Experience within the mortgage, lending, title, settlement, or financial services industry.
• Experience developing, integrating with, or supporting the Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS).
• Experience working with third-party vendor integrations and API-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps principles.
