Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking a senior software engineer to develop C++ algorithms for processing lidar, radar, and camera data and to design scalable pipelines for large-scale streaming sensor data. You will collaborate with Perception and Planning teams to understand and define data needs and to design APIs that expose sensor data to downstream consumers.

The role also involves supporting the deployment, testing, and validation of machine learning models and contributing to the creation and refinement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/Robotics with 5 years of progressive experience
• Master’s degree in CS/SE/Robotics with 3 years of experience
• 3 years of experience in C++ development for sensor data

You will:

• Develop C++ algorithms to process and interpret lidar, radar, and camera sensor data
• Design and implement efficient processing pipelines for large-scale streaming sensor data
• Collaborate with Perception and Planning teams to understand and define data needs
• Design and develop scalable APIs to make sensor data available to downstream consumers
• Support the deployment, testing, and validation of machine learning models
• Contribute to the creation and refinement of system evaluation tools and processes

You have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field of study and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.
• Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field of study and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.

Position requires 3 years of experience in the following:

• C++ algorithm development for sensor data processing (lidar, radar, and camera)
• Pipeline design and processing for large-scale streaming sensor data
• Scalable API design and development for downstream consumers
• Machine learning model deployment, testing, and validation
• Data needs definition for perception and planning teams

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
