Job summary

Waymo LLC in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead cross-functional efforts building scalable data pipelines and deployment infrastructure for the perception stack. You will design and optimize distributed systems, contribute to model serving infrastructure, and collaborate with ML, robotics, and software teams.

Requires 5+ years in software engineering, strong C++, and distributed data processing.

Qualifications

• 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in software engineer-related occupation or a master’s degree with 5 years of experience.
• Proven experience with C++, distributed systems, large-scale data pipelines, and ML/ robotics related engineering.

• Lead cross-organizational efforts to enhance system efficiency, deployment speed, and maintainability.
• Improve developer experience and system visibility by streamlining infrastructure workflows.

• Support expansive machine learning development, including data mining, debugging, and visualization tools.

You will:

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineer-related occupation. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineer-related occupation.

  Position requires 5 years of experience in the following:

  • C++ programming;
  • Distributed system design;
  • Large-scale data pipeline development;
  • Distributed data processing frameworks; and
  • Robotics engineering or Machine learning engineering.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

Salary Range

$295,000 - $310,000 USD

Position reports to the Waymo office & may allow for a hybrid schedule per Waymo policy.
