Job description

About Us

We develop genetic analysis and embryo screening solutions for fertility patients and clinics. Our platform brings together patients, clinicians, laboratory staff, and researchers throughout the testing process, from the initial requisition to the delivery of results.

The Role

You'll develop and take ownership of functionality across patient, clinician, and internal portals, laboratory workflows, and the underlying systems. As part of a small engineering team, you'll guide projects from early concepts through to production. You'll collaborate directly with sales, laboratory operations, research, and genetics teams to determine what needs building.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver full-stack functionality using Django, GraphQL, React, and TypeScript.
  • Define requirements alongside laboratory staff, genetic counselors, researchers, and sales colleagues, then implement and maintain the resulting solutions.
  • Proactively identify operational gaps, data problems, and system weaknesses before they become reported issues.
  • Take responsibility for your production systems on AWS, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to engineering practices across architecture, code reviews, testing, and development tools.
Your Experience & Approach
  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably within fast-paced startups.
  • Strong capabilities in Python/Django and TypeScript/React, with practical experience using PostgreSQL and AWS.
  • A proactive approach to identifying work, questioning assumptions, and investigating underlying causes.
  • Clear communication with non-technical colleagues and confidence leading cross-functional discussions.
  • The ability to navigate uncertainty and make sound decisions without having every detail available.
AI-Assisted Development
  • AI plays a central role in your development process, supported by professional experience delivering production software before AI coding tools became available. Your understanding of software design, architecture, debugging, and engineering tradeoffs enables you to critically assess all agent-generated output.
  • You draw on the available tools and engineering practices to guide agents toward accurate, secure, production-ready code.
Additional Experience
  • A background working in laboratory, biotech, healthcare, or genomics environments.
  • Experience handling regulated or sensitive data, including HIPAA and PHI.
  • A degree in a scientific discipline or computer science.
