Compensation: $114,000 - $231,000 per year

About the Role

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking a Software Engineer for its Missile Defense team in Mount Laurel, NJ.

Clearance & Location Requirements

All applicants must obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Position requires at least five days per week on‑site at Mount Laurel, NJ.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement features, resolve defects, and enhance system capabilities.
Develop high‑quality, maintainable code in accordance with engineering, security, and quality standards.
Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis activities.
Integrate software components, APIs, and third‑party technologies into existing systems.
Support software deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement efforts.
Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational procedures.
Contribute throughout the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and sustainment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

4+ years of professional software development experience.
Experience developing software using C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
Experience working in Linux‑based environments.
Familiarity with SQL and relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI‑compliant containers.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Aegis Weapon System concepts, architectures, or related combat systems.
Experience supporting the development, modernization, or sustainment of complex software systems.
Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
Experience working within Agile development environments.
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure software development practices.
Experience with cloud‑native technologies, container orchestration, or platform engineering concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and ability to independently drive technical tasks to completion.

Pay Range*

$114,000–$184,000 or $135,000–$231,000. Pay is dependent on candidate’s experience, skills, and education and does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits.
