Job summary

Exostar LLC is seeking a seasoned full-stack software engineer to design, develop, and support cloud services for Microsoft 365 integrations in regulated industries. You will work on Azure Commercial and Azure Government, building scalable RESTful APIs and SPAs with Angular and .NET.

You will mentor teams, lead architecture reviews, and own products from inception through deployment, in a hybrid Herndon, VA environment.

Job description

This individual contributor will work in Exostar’s Microsoft 365 and Secure Collaboration product engineering team to design, develop, and support cloud services that extend Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and the broader Microsoft 365 platform for customers in the Aerospace and Defense and other highly regulated industries. The successful candidate will be a seasoned full-stack software engineer with deep, hands‑on experience developing, testing, and supporting complex, highly scalable, and dependable solutions on the Microsoft technology stack, deployed to both Azure Commercial and Azure Government clouds. This individual must possess strong technical skills coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Designing and developing full-stack solutions using C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core Web API, and Angular, employing industry‑best design patterns and development practices.
• Building and extending Microsoft 365 integrations, including Microsoft Teams applications, SharePoint Online solutions, and Microsoft Graph API integrations, within a Product Engineering & Development team.
• Designing, deploying, and operating cloud services in both Azure Commercial and Azure Government (GCC / GCC High) environments, meeting the security and compliance requirements of regulated customers.
• Designing relational data models and writing and tuning SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data access code.
• Assisting product managers and customers in understanding Exostar technology, products, and services.
• Mentoring development teams on design patterns and evangelizing software development practices and processes.
• Leading design reviews and code walkthroughs for small teams, and presenting architecture and designs to Exostar customers and the management team.
• Owning the product from inception through deployment and support in production.

Basic Qualifications: You meet our “must-haves” for this role if

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in software development using Microsoft .NET and modern web technologies.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or the foreign equivalent.
• Proven experience leading the design, development, and deployment of at least one major web application or product.
• Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SOLID principles, and software design patterns.
• Deep understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms.
• 8+ years of experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem, including .NET 6 or newer, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework Core.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices on .NET.
• Hands‑on experience developing Microsoft 365 solutions, including Microsoft Teams apps (tabs, bots, messaging extensions), SharePoint Online (SPFx, SharePoint REST / CSOM), and the Microsoft Graph API.
• Experience with the Microsoft identity platform and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, app registrations, and delegated and application permission models.
• Experience building and deploying solutions on Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, Azure Service Bus, and Application Insights.
• Experience working in Azure Government (GCC / GCC High) as well as Azure Commercial, with an understanding of the differences between sovereign and commercial cloud endpoints and services.
• Proficiency with relational databases, especially Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, and query performance tuning.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and infrastructure-as-code such as ARM / Bicep or Terraform.
• Experience developing and integrating large-scale distributed web applications.
• Proficiency in Angular 12+, Angular Material, RxJS
• Strong testing background using xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest with Moq for unit and integration testing, and Jasmine / Karma or Jest for front‑end tests.
• Experience with .NET performance tuning, profiling, and production diagnostics.
• Skilled in building responsive UIs and Single Page Applications (SPAs), including Teams-hosted experiences using Fluent UI.
• A comprehensive understanding of web architecture, including platforms, APIs, caching, proxies, and databases.
• Knowledge of web security best practices, including protection against XSS, CSRF, and the OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams alongside architects, engineers, product managers, and QA.

Preferred Qualifications – You are exactly who we are looking for if you:

• Experience with Hybrid-Cloud architecture and building cloud-native, multi-tenant SaaS solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams meeting extensions, Adaptive Cards, Bot Framework, and Teams Toolkit.
• Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) and SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web parts.
• Understanding of Web SSO technologies such as SAML, WS-Federation, and OAuth / OIDC, and identity federation with Microsoft Entra ID or ADFS.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and ITAR-driven requirements for building and operating software in Azure Government.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service).
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry is a plus.

Location: Herndon, VA- Hybrid (3x/week)

The pay range for this position is $120,000k - 160,000k/yr; however, the final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
