Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Senior/Mid-Level Software Engineer to modernize legacy C++ applications and migrate Solaris-based systems to Linux. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance, with experience in Oracle database development and REST API integrations.

You will participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to modernization objectives for defense operations. Onsite work with a 4x10 schedule is offered.

Qualifications

Senior/Mid-Level Software Engineer (C/Linux Modernization)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Software Engineers to support a critical modernization effort for a mission-focused maintenance application supporting defense operations. The ideal candidate will have strong C++ development experience, a background working with legacy applications, and the ability to independently analyze and modernize complex software systems with limited documentation.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and modernize large legacy C+ applications.
• Migrate software from Solaris 32-bit environments to modern Linux/RHEL 64-bit platforms.
• Analyze and maintain existing codebases with limited documentation.
• Develop and maintain Oracle database integrations.
• Create and enhance SQL queries, stored procedures, and business logic.
• Perform unit testing using Google Test and adhere to software development standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, PI planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and product stakeholders to deliver modernization objectives.
• Support integration efforts involving REST APIs and modern application interfaces.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• 5+ years (Mid-Level) or 8+ years (Senior-Level) software development experience.
