Job summary

Körber in Fargo, ND is seeking a talented UI/Software Engineer to develop a machine UI for packaging machinery, using AlphaGate A-VIS and Java Swing. You will work with PLC communication and customer-specific interfaces in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

You will debug, FAT-prep, travel to customer sites up to 10%, and collaborate with automation teams. A BS in a relevant engineering field and hands-on UI programming in manufacturing are required, with familiarity in MVC, design patterns, and

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/SE/CE/ECE or equivalent is required.
• Experience programming operator or user interfaces.
• Experience in manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in design patterns and MVC architecture; strong debugging skills.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Swing UI; Apache Ant preferred.
• Familiar with Git Version Control, Jira, NetBeans IDE is a plus.
• Computer literacy with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Demonstrate a brilliant imagination and ability to develop new concepts.
• Able to plan over a 3–6 month horizon.
• Valid driver’s license and clean record; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

Your role in our team

• You will be responsible for developing a machine user interface (UI) to control packaging machinery, within a given timeframe, that meets the customer’s specifications using creativity and innovation.
• You will design machine user interfaces (UI) using AlphaGate A-VIS visualization software
• You will configure communication with the machine PLC and plant-level software applications
• You will customize the operator interface application to meet specific customer needs
• You will debug and prepare the user interface for factory acceptance testing (FAT)
• You will communicate and interact with customers in a positive and professional manner
• You will provide suggestions for design improvements or changes during all phases of machine design
• You will integrate third party equipment into the machine and UI functions
• You will work with the automation programmer to troubleshoot any program errors
• You will review the operating manuals prepared by the technical writer to ensure accuracy and reduce service calls
• You will travel to customers’ plant or provides remote service and support of equipment

Your profile

• You have a B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
• You have experience in programming operator or user interfaces
• You have experience in manufacturing environment
• You are proficient in design patterns, MVC architecture, and strong debugging skills
• You have strong knowledge and experience in Java, Swing UI, and Apache Ant is preferred
• You are familiar with Git Version Control, Jira, NetBeans IDE tools is a plus
• You have computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• You can demonstrate a brilliant imagination
• You are capable of developing new concepts and standards
• You are able to think ahead and plan over a 3-month to 6-month time span
• You have a valid driver’s license and a record clear of poor violation convictions such as reckless driving or Driving Under the Influence (DUI/DWI) within the past three years or two or more at fault accidents within the past three years.
• You are able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the year
