Job summary

Sentar Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to support the USAF GBSD/Sentinel program in Colorado Springs, CO. You will develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems handling analytics, large data sets, and real-time processing, while reviewing components for quality and testing results.

The role requires a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain SAP access and an active Secret clearance, plus a BS in a STEM field.

Qualifications

  • Experience in software development in an object-oriented language (Java or C++).
  • Experience with UI design/development or interpreting complex algorithms for implementation.
  • Familiarity with SysML/UML concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems including analytics and real-time processing.
  • Review and test software components for design adherence; document tests and resolve problems.
  • Provide input to system design including hardware/software tradeoffs and reuse; consider COTS and requirements synthesis.

Role Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force’s Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD)/Sentinel program in Colorado Springs, CO. The contract scope replaces the Minuteman III missile.

The software engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems—including processing‑intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real‑time systems, and business management information systems—based upon documented requirements. The engineer works individually or as part of a team, reviews and tests software components for adherence to design requirements, documents test results, resolves software problem reports, and utilizes appropriate software development and design methodologies. The engineer provides input to system design, including hardware/software tradeoffs, reuse, use of COTS, and requirement synthesis from system to component level.

Qualifications

Clearance Level: U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain SAP access; Active Secret clearance with investigation/adjudicated within the past 6 years.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline.

Experience:

  • SWE 0: No experience required.
  • SWE 1: 5 years’ experience.
  • SWE 2: 10 years’ experience.
  • SWE 3: 15 years’ experience.
  • Four years of additional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
Required Skills
  • Experience in software development in at least one object‑oriented programming language such as Java or C++.
  • Experience with UI design and development, or interpreting complex algorithms and requirements for implementation.
  • Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in Agile, C/C++, JAVA/JS expertise and real‑time processing including processes, threads, scheduling, synchronization mechanisms and memory management.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools.
  • Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging and maintenance.
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence.
  • Experience with safety‑critical and nuclear critical software development (DO‑178C, AFMAN 91‑119, DO‑330, etc.).
  • Familiarity with a structured process‑driven software development environment, including peer reviews, revision control, defect tracking and build release practices.
  • Experience with development drivers and middleware (RTOS, Linux and/or VxWorks) and anti‑tampering (cryptographic, secure comms, logging, SW deployment).
  • Experience with Git products.
  • Experience with applied automated testing techniques including unit and integration testing.
  • Experience with test framework/application and system verification.
Salary

Salary range: $80,000 – $135,000.
