Full Time Professional Colorado Springs, CO, US

Salary Range: $145,000.00 To $160,000.00 Annually

Software Engineer (Salary Range $145-160k)

ARES is recruiting for a Software Engineer to support the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex-Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and CCIC2S Enterprise Networks within the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Acquisition Delta.

Join a team supporting mission-critical systems that help protect the United States and its allies from air, missile, and space threats. Our work supports the systems, networks, and technologies that provide military decision-makers with accurate, timely, and continuous warning and attack assessment information. The NCMC-ITW/AA program sustains and modernizes specialized warning and assessment systems at Cheyenne Mountain, integrating mission capabilities, IT infrastructure, support services, and data products essential to national defense. CCIC2S supports the command-and-control enterprise that connects external sensors with mission systems and operational users. The environment enables secure data communications, air and missile warning processing, system operations, and cybersecurity protections across critical network interfaces. Together, these programs provide an opportunity to work on highly reliable, secure systems where technical performance directly supports some of the nation's most important defense missions.

This is a full-time position at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO with telework flexibility for local candidates. Travel may be required to CONUS and OCONUS locations (approx. 10-20%)

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Acts as a member of a government ran agile scenario development team.
  • Provides AFLCMC/HBQ leadership with analysis of simulation requirements with regards to the appropriate level of design within cost and time parameters.
  • Frequently interacts with government team lead and vendors concerning improvements and maintenance to the simulations that are being utilized.
  • Coordinates and/or assists in the installation and removal of new or existing simulations.
  • Develops applications using scientific and mathematical models to predict consequences of a particular design, accomplish data analysis, support simulation validation and assist in data reduction.
  • Support all aspects of the agile creation / modification of scenarios and analytical tools for use by the test community at all organizations and sites, as coordinated by the AFLCMC/HBQ government team lead:
    • Attend agile process meetings, including but not limited to daily stand-ups (daily scrums), retrospectives, and program increment planning meetings.
    • Aid in the analysis and decomposition of user requirements with the goal being to break down work into task descriptions that can be completed within each sprint.
    • Build and document all test cases to assess the quality of finished products.
    • Write code pertaining to all scenarios and tools using industry best-practices regarding static / dynamic code analysis, code style guides, and documentation.
    • Develop documentation: test plans, test reports, test procedures, data analysis plans, scenario description documents, verification and validation reports, training documents, and other documentation as needed.
    • Utilize statistically-significant testing and analysis, when assigned by the Government lead, wherever possible.
    • Present or support results briefings as needed or assigned by Government lead.
    • Establish and document simulation requirements and performance expectations as needed or assigned by the Government lead.
    • Coded tool-sets should be modular in design, comprised of user-friendly GUIs, and fully-documented. It is strongly desired to utilize widely available user-friendly higher-order languages (Python 3, MATLAB, etc.) that do not require compilers for maximum code reuse. In all cases, source code must be provided.
    • Interface with test / operational personnel from all applicable organizations to ensure that user needs are being met with the proposed and completed solutions
    • Coordinate and use existing tools or scenarios where possible to more efficiently develop solutions or results.
