GenomicMD is looking for a mid-level or senior Software Engineer to help build and operate the software platform behind our clinical genomics products.
This is a highly autonomous, hands-on engineering role on a small team. We're looking for someone who can independently own technical problems from initial requirements through implementation, deployment, and ongoing production support.
You'll work across a cloud-native stack supporting genomic data processing, clinical workflows, provider-facing applications, and integrations with laboratories and healthcare partners.
While the role is primarily backend-focused, you'll have opportunities to contribute across the full stack and infrastructure.
This is a remote-friendly position. Candidates are welcome to work remotely, though applicants based in or near Chicago, IL are preferred for opportunities to collaborate in person. Being located in Chicago is a plus, not a requirement. Applicants must be based in the United States.
Our primary technologies include:
You do not need prior experience with every technology in our stack.
You should have:
Autonomy and ownership are essential for this role. We operate as a small engineering team, without layers of project management or narrowly defined responsibilities. Engineers are expected to take initiative and drive projects forward without requiring constant oversight.
The ideal candidate:
We value engineers who are self-directed, pragmatic, and comfortable with ambiguity, while recognizing when collaboration or additional context is needed.
Experience in genomics is not required. Strong engineering fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn independently matter much more.
