Job summary

Avalore is seeking a full stack developer to support a backend team focused on middleware and backend services for our US Government client. The role emphasizes high performance data processing and robust back-end design.

Qualified candidates have an active security clearance with polygraph, at least 5 years of Java development experience, and hands-on work with Hadoop, Pyspark, Spark or HBase, plus Lucene/Solr query experience. AWS familiarity and tooling with JIRA/GitHub are a plus.

Job description

• Active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph

  • Performing schema updates
  • Possessing significant knowledge & experience in submitting Lucene queries
  • Possessing significant knowledge & experience on how Solr/Elastic shards work
  • Possessing significant experience tuning Solr/Elastic for performance and query optimization

• College degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a big data environment using tools such as Hadoop, Pyspark, Spark, and Hbase (prefer at least two of the list)

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, back-end Java development experience (not Javascript or Springboot) implementing code that undergoes code reviews, unit testing, integration testing and deployed to a production environment

Desired:

• Demonstrated experience working with several AWS services.
• Demonstrated experience with JIRA and GITHUB.

Work Environment:

• Moderate noise (i.e.business office with computers,phoneand printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment).

• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
