Job summary

Procom in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Engineer for a 12-month contract. The role is hybrid with 4 days in the client’s Austin office, focused on enterprise web applications and secure authentication journeys.

You will build and support Passwordless login, Risk Based Authentication, and modern identity solutions, delivering secure, scalable authentication capabilities while applying AI-assisted engineering to improve efficiency and code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of enterprise app development with Java/JavaScript
• Experience with REST APIs, Spring Boot, and gateway patterns

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, testing and support for complex app components and secure authentication capabilities.
• Collaborate with product owners, SCRUM masters, architects and engineers to plan features and estimate effort.
• Design secure, resilient authentication journeys using risk signals and policy-based decisions.
• Contribute to Passwordless Login, FIDO2/WebAuthn and modern identity solutions.
• Build and consume REST APIs and gateway patterns aligned with platform standards.
• Maintain automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, security scanning and observability.

This position is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at our client’s Austin, Texas office.Software Engineer - Job Description:As a member of the Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technology team, the Software Engineer will focus on building and supporting enterprise web applications and modern authentication journeys. The successful candidate will deliver secure, scalable authentication capabilities, including Passwordless Login and Risk Based Authentication, while utilizing AI-assisted engineering workflows to enhance development efficiency and quality.Software Engineer - Responsibilities:• Own design, development, testing, and support for complex application components and secure authentication capabilities.• Partner with product owners, SCRUM masters, architects, and engineers to decompose features, estimate delivery effort, and meet sprint and release commitments.• Design and implement secure, resilient, user-friendly authentication journeys using risk signals, telemetry, and policy-based decisioning.• Contribute to Passwordless Login, FIDO2/WebAuthn/passkey, Risk Based Authentication, and modern identity solutions.• Build and consume REST APIs, gateway patterns, and reusable services that align with platform principles and architectural standards.• Maintain high standards for automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, security scanning, observability, and release readiness.• Troubleshoot high-stress and time-critical production situations with strong ownership and sound technical judgment.Software Engineer - Mandatory Skills:• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks; Angular preferred.• Strong experience developing secure web applications and building or consuming REST APIs.• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Gateway or similar gateway patterns, and service-based architectures.• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Karma, Cucumber, BDD, accessibility testing, or similar tools.• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar data platforms.• Experience with CI/CD technologies, code quality tooling, and secure engineering practices.Software Engineer – Nice-to-Have Skills:• Experience designing or implementing Passwordless Login, FIDO2/WebAuthn/passkeys, or modern authentication journeys.• Experience with Risk Based Authentication concepts including risk scoring, step-up authentication, device signals, behavioral signals, and policy-based access decisions.• Experience deploying containerized applications to GCP, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.• Experience with GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Sonar, Blackduck, Veracode, or similar CI/CD and code security tooling.• Familiarity with NIST identity standards and financial services technology environments.Software Engineer – Assignment Length:This is a 12 month contract position.Software Engineer - Start Date:ASAP.Software Engineer - Assignment Location:Austin, Texas, United States.
