Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Software Engineer with a Java focus in Austin, TX for a ~15 month contract on a hybrid onsite schedule (4 days/week). You will own design, development, testing, and deployment of complex authentication components, REST APIs, and secure identity features using Spring Boot and gateway patterns.

You will collaborate with product, security, and architecture teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks (Angular preferred).
• Strong experience building or consuming REST APIs and developing secure web applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud Gateway (or similar gateway patterns) and service-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing and engineering quality practices (e.g., JUnit, Karma, Cucumber/BDD, accessibility testing) plus CI/CD and security scanning/observability.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, testing, and support for complex components and secure authentication.
• Build and support modern authentication journeys (Passwordless Login, Risk Based Authentication) using risk signals and telemetry.
• Contribute to secure identity solutions (FIDO2/WebAuthn) and risk-aware authentication flows.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs and gateway patterns aligned with standards.
• Troubleshoot high-stress production issues with ownership and secure, scalable outcomes.
