Job summary

Sigil Partners is seeking a Test Engineer to join an aerospace and electronics engineering organization. You will design, develop, integrate, and maintain automated test equipment for aerospace and electronic products, with emphasis on LabVIEW development and data acquisition.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Automated test-system design and programming of data-acquisition systems.
• Software development and verification experience.

• Experience with TestStand is required.
• Experience with SPICE, CAD tools, schematic design, and PWB layout.
• Experience with communication interfaces such as ARINC 429, CAN, RS-232, and I2C.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively with cross-functional engineering, operations, quality, and business teams to achieve product performance and cost targets.
• Define, understand, and comply with company and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe operating environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and 5S practices, to maintain an organized and efficient working environment.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, presentations, analyses, procedures, and other engineering documentation.
• Understand, decompose, and define product and process requirements supporting product development, sustaining engineering, and R&D activities.
• Plan, estimate, prioritize, and manage engineering activities to meet project schedules and budgets.
• Produce thorough and accurate design and development work that meets customer specifications and company requirements for schedule, cost, producibility, quality, and reliability.
• Apply structured problem-solving processes, documentation, tools, and analyses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for technical challenges.
• Generate and review engineering documentation, including proposals, technical reports, procedures, correspondence, and other materials required to support customer and program requirements.
• Work independently while communicating and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering, operations, quality, and business teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and other team members within areas of technical expertise, as applicable to the Level III position.
• Design test equipment hardware and software and select and procure equipment required to achieve desired test results and accuracy.
• Integrate and/or build complex automated test systems.
• Design, code, troubleshoot, and debug computer and data-acquisition systems used for automated testing with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand.
• Develop complete test-equipment design packages, including written descriptions, wiring diagrams, schematics, photographs, component lists, and supporting documentation to allow systems to be accurately reconstructed.
• Ensure test data is accurate, organized, properly documented, and appropriately archived.
• Generate test procedures from engineering and product specifications.
• Perform calculations to establish test-equipment specifications, design margins, test setups, and test limits.
• Support Production with the design of new test equipment, error-proofing initiatives, and upgrades to existing test equipment.
• Review test-equipment documentation, procedures, and designs and provide testability reviews for product designs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Test Engineer to join an established aerospace and electronics engineering organization supporting highly engineered products used in demanding commercial aerospace and defense applications. This position is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining automated test equipment used to validate aerospace and electronic products. The Test Engineer will develop both hardware and software for test systems, with a strong emphasis on LabVIEW development, automated test systems, data acquisition, troubleshooting, and electronic hardware. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced engineering, manufacturing, operations, and quality teams to develop reliable test solutions while supporting new product development, sustaining engineering, production, and continuous improvement initiatives.
