Job summary

Oversight is seeking an experienced hands-on Software Engineer to lead the design, development and testing of cloud platform features. You will work on complex UI and server-side components, implement new functionality, and ship high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Experience in full-stack product development for software vendors.
• 3+ years building high-performing apps using Java, TypeScript, and Python.
• Strong SQL skills with Postgres; familiarity with data platforms like Databricks.
• Experience with cloud environments; AWS preferred.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Maven, JUnit, pytest) and Git workflows.

Position Overview: Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Software Engineer who will lead the technical aspects of designing, developing and testing of various initiatives for the cloud platform software engineering team at Oversight. The role expects significant software engineering knowledge in complex UI and server-side applications, including new feature work, improvements on existing code, and active participation in designing and shipping the product.

• Translate business requirements into software design documents. Ensure application meets functional, performance, and technical requirements
• Work closely with development leads, and other developers to ensure proper implementation
• Effectively share technical information and train/mentor team members
• Establish a very high standard for quality and insure that this standard is consistently met
• Work in a fast-paced team environment to complete multiple projects simultaneously according to business and technical requirements

Skills

• Experience in software product development, preferably at a software vendor
• 1-2 years of hands-on full-stack development experience designing, building and supporting high-performing applications using Java and TypeScript, including Java server technologies, J2EE applications and Web Services
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and TypeScript
• Strong debugging/diagnostic skills including identifying and resolving performance issues
• Experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code to develop software
• Proficiency developing software products that access relational databases and data platforms such as Postgres and Databricks
• Ability to create and understand complex SQL statements
• Proficiency with Linux or other Unix command line interface
• Experience with cloud environments; AWS preferred
• Experience with unit testing and Continuous Integration (Maven, Junit, pytest)
• Ability to use version control software such as git
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
• BS in Computer Science or related discipline
