Job summary

American Innovations seeks a senior platform engineering leader to guide architecture, mentoring, and delivery of mission-crITICAL cloud-native .NET applications. You will drive the platform team's roadmap, champion AI-enabled development, and ensure secure, scalable, observable systems with 4-6 engineers under your leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent
• 5 years as a solution architect, tech lead or team lead
• 3+ years of people management experience
• 3+ years responsible for technology direction, execution, and application support
• 2+ years of experience with agile transformation
• Advanced proficiency with AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT)
• Experience in a cloud-native environment
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
• Experience designing/deploying .NET apps in Azure
• Experience with observability platforms (Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace)
• Experience deploying in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Understanding of microservices architecture and performance optimization
• Experience designing secure solutions in regulated cloud environments
• Experience building internal developer platforms
• Experience with IAM is a plus

What You Will Be Doing

• A highly influential role that can truly help drive the business forward from a technical perspective and provide wide exposure across all American Innovations product lines.
• While your primary responsibility will be managing, mentoring, and guiding the platform engineering team, you’ll periodically support hands‑on development efforts—especially for prototypes or non‑critical‑path projects.
• You will ensure the craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, scalability and observability of solutions developed by the teams and third‑party providers.
• Champion and lead the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies throughout the platform team’s development lifecycle—including coding, planning, designing, architecting, and documentation—to improve efficiency, quality, and innovation
• You will engage in mentoring and guiding the professional development of American Innovations technical staff, as well as identify and recommend opportunities for developing product functional and technical strategies for your domain. This will include the development of actionable short and long‑term product roadmaps, by partnering with business leaders, product managers, systems architects, Security Operations, Support and more experienced engineers.
• You will also make decisions in resolving design challenges, create and oversee strategic product design from the engineering perspective in addition to overseeing an engineering team of 4-6 ensuring the delivery of commitments aligned to our engineering roadmaps.
• Be an experienced Engineer with a technical background focused on architecting, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable cross‑platform cloud‑native applications using .NET.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Own the platform team’s product roadmap by gathering requirements from internal development teams, prioritizing enhancements, and driving adoption and satisfaction across the organization
• Apply knowledge of standards, policies, best practice and organizational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders.
• Promote and integrate the use of AI-powered tools and methodologies in daily engineering activities, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement across development, operations, and internal collaboration
• Provide informal guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team’s objectives.
• Ensure the quality of tasks, deliverables, services and information provided by your team – through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to ensure that your team delivers high‑quality, maintainable software which adheres to American Innovations standards and policies.
• Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimize their impact on the team’s delivery and/or supported products.
• Identify and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business, e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience.

Requirements

What you need to succeed:

• 8+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through experience
• 5 years of experience as a solution architect, tech lead or team lead
• 3+ years of people management experience
• 3+ years of experience with responsibility for technology direction, execution, and application support
• 2+ years of experience with agile transformation
• Background Computer Science or Equivalent Engineering Degree desired
• Advanced proficiency with artificial intelligence-powered software development tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, AI/ML-based code review & analysis, AI planning/design tools), with a proven track record of advocating for and enabling their adoption within engineering organizations
• Experience working in a cloud-native environment
• Experience with React, Angular or similar technology a plus
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc)
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying .NET applications in Azure cloud environments
• Experience working with observability platforms (Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace, etc)
• Experience deploying software to a containerized environment (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
• Thorough understanding of microservices architecture, service scalability and performance optimization
• Experience designing secure solutions or working in regulated cloud environments
• Experience building or operating internal developer platforms or enabling developer self-service is a strong plus
• Experience with IAM technologies a plus
