Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for EC2 Gateway Networking to lead a team delivering software-defined networking at scale. You will steer architecture, mentor engineers, and partner with multiple AWS services to deliver reliable, cost-efficient networking infrastructure globally.

You will prioritize hiring, drive DevOps practices, and ensure high availability while fostering an inclusive culture focused on innovation and customer obsession.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting of new and existing systems.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks life cycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers building next-generation software-defined networking infrastructure for AWS at scale.
• Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions for control plane software supporting EC2 Gateway Networking services.
• Partner with VPC, S3, Direct Connect, DDB, Outposts, and other AWS services to deliver features that improve availability, cost, and scale.
• Make strategic trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term architectural goals while maintaining operational excellence.
• Own the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and operations of high-availability distributed systems.
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering team through hiring top talent, mentoring engineers, and developing future leaders.
• Establish and drive engineering best practices for DevOps, continuous integration, and infrastructure automation.
• Influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership to align on priorities and deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency for networking services operating at AWS scale.
• Foster a culture of innovation, customer obsession, and continuous improvement within the team.
