Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for the NAT Gateway in Seattle. You will lead a high-performing team delivering secure, scalable networking software and own technical roadmaps with product, design, and stakeholder partners.

Expect to drive best practices, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration to balance delivery speed with long-term architecture while maintaining customer obsession and security standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience.
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience.
• 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

• Manage team performance, career development, and growth through regular coaching, mentorship, and feedback.
• Build and execute technical roadmaps in partnership with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure the right work is prioritized and delivered on time.
• Evaluate trade-offs between operational excellence and feature development, balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural goals.
• Inspire a positive, inclusive team culture and working environment where engineers deliver their best work.
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with networking, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions.
