THE OPPORTUNITY
This Software Development Manager position can work remotely within the U.S.
The Software Development Manager will work with a modern tech stack on mobile platforms to improve users' health and well-being in over 50 countries. The core platform handles billions of tasks daily.
The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills and a passion for software engineering to shape the team's direction. Key qualities include versatility, continuous learning, and empowerment of team members. The role involves building scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions for medical devices.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead and mentor engineers, providing technical leadership.
- Review design and code, including peer reviews of Pull Requests.
- Collaborate on designing and implementing software for web, cloud, and mobile platforms.
- Support best practices in software development and architecture.
- Make significant architectural and operational decisions with the Architecture team.
- Address design and technology issues within existing systems.
- Define and shape API contracts with internal and external teams.
- Ensure high standards of performance, scalability, and code quality.
- Create software architecture and design documentation.
- Contribute to team tooling, processes, and culture.
- Mentor and train team members technically.
- Lead Agile ceremonies like stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Develop and execute team strategies.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and ensure timely delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Track team performance and implement improvements.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and recommend innovations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience with complex software applications.
- Deep knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
- Understanding of modern web and cross-platform mobile architecture, API design, performance, and scalability.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Experience in project planning and delivery.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban frameworks.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- Experience supporting multiple teams.
- Comfort with asynchronous work in distributed teams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new languages and technologies.
- Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of Go and React Native.
