Descripción del empleo

Description

  • Want real, hands‑on experience building software that clients and coworkers actually use, not busywork on the sidelines?
  • Looking for a part‑time role that works around your class schedule while you learn from experienced developers on live projects?

If that sounds like you, keep reading!

Why SSR

SSR Total IT is a 30-year-established managed IT services provider supporting 170+ small and mid-sized businesses, 3,000+ end users, and 2,000+ systems across Wisconsin. We're a technology partner to our clients, not just a support desk, helping them plan, build, and secure the systems their businesses run on.

We work across five divisions, Procurement, Operational Excellence, Managed Services, Applications & Analytics, and Infrastructure & Security Engineering. Our Applications & Analytics team builds and supports custom software, integrations, and data solutions for clients, pairing traditional development with modern AI-assisted tooling.

Our culture runs on five values: Client Driven, Elevate Others, Do the Right Thing, Thirst for Knowledge, and Professionalism.

The Role

We're looking for motivated Software Development Interns to join our Application Development team on an ongoing, year-round basis. This is a paid, part‑time internship built to give students real, hands‑on experience, building, testing, and supporting live client and internal applications alongside our development team. You'll work under the mentorship of experienced developers, contribute to real projects from day one, and build the foundation for a potential future full‑time Software Developer role at SSR.

What You'll Do
  • Learn to design, develop, test, and debug code across SSR's core stack (C#/.NET, JavaScript/Angular, SQL Server), under the guidance of a mentor
  • Assist the development team with client and internal projects, including data integration, mobile app development, and custom software solutions
  • Support existing SSR and client software products with maintenance, testing, and enhancement tasks
  • Participate in requirements‑gathering discussions to learn how customer needs become technical specifications
  • Get hands‑on exposure to modern delivery practices, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and AI‑assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude)
  • Assist with research projects and internal tooling initiatives as assigned
  • Communicate and collaborate professionally with both clients and internal stakeholders
Requirements
Required:
  • Actively pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Coursework or personal‑project experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g. C#, Java, Python, JavaScript)
  • Willingness to learn SSR's core stack (C#/.NET, JavaScript/Angular, SQL) if not already familiar with it
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine eagerness to learn in a mentorship‑driven environment
  • Reliable availability of at least 10 hours per week, on a schedule coordinated with your manager around your class schedule
Preferred:
  • Exposure to Git or another version control system
  • Familiarity with a cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Interest in AI/agentic development, mobile frameworks (.NET MAUI, React Native, Flutter), or data engineering tools
  • Prior internship, co‑op, or personal‑project experience building or testing software
How This Role Fits Within Our Team

Reports to the Application & Analytics Leader within SSR's Application & Analytics division.

This role blends hands‑on development, mentorship, and real project delivery, giving you a foothold on live work while building toward a potential full‑time Software Developer role at SSR.

  • Mentorship from experienced developers and technical leadership
  • A clear path toward a potential full‑time Software Developer role at SSR
  • A flexible, part‑time schedule built around your class schedule
  • Exposure to modern tools and technologies, cloud, AI‑assisted development, and CI/CD
