Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid (SSR) is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Accounting team. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting the financial operations of a growing, employee-owned engineering and consulting firm.

You'll work alongside accounting professionals and gain exposure to core accounting processes, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. Minimum requirements include pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various accounts payable
  • Support month-end activities
  • Prepare various financial analyses
  • Support Project Accounting with project setup, closure and billing
  • Review and organize financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with data entry and maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Attend team meetings; capture notes, actions, and due dates; follow up to keep tasks moving.
  • Seek opportunities to expand knowledge and skills; share recent developments or coursework insights with the team.
  • Participate in internal/external trainings, lunch-and-learns, and site walks to build practical experience.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and peers; ask questions proactively and escalate blockers early.

What You'll Do

Who We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
