Job summary

Trane Technologies in Minnesota is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to work with senior engineers, gain hands-on experience, and develop scalable digital and control solutions for HVAC and Building Automation Systems.

The role offers a hybrid work environment based out of White Bear Lake, MN, with mentorship and a capstone project presentation to leadership at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Solid foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Hands-on programming experience with at least one language, through coursework or projects.
• Basic familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub.
• Strong problem-solving and rapid learning abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain clean code using Python, C++, or JavaScript.
• Develop new features for controls and digital platforms and service tools with guidance from senior developers.
• Debug and resolve issues across the software development lifecycle.
• Write automated unit tests to ensure high code quality and coverage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams like Product, Hardware, UX/UI, and QA.
• Present an internship capstone project to engineering leadership at completion.
