Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizens only due to program requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in desktop, web, mobile, or embedded software.
  • Experience with .NET and C#; proficiency in C++, JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience integrating software with hardware/embedded systems and devices.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and maintainable code.
  • Experience with UI frameworks (WPF, Avalonia, Qt) and web frameworks (Vue, React, Angular).
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and WebSockets; developing backend services.
  • Exposure to unit/integration testing, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux and ARM platforms is a plus.
  • Good troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain desktop, web, mobile, and embedded applications for Teledyne FLIR products.
  • Build applications using .NET, C#, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript and related technologies.
  • Create intuitive interfaces for desktop, web, mobile, and embedded platforms.
  • Develop interfaces for embedded devices in constrained hardware environments.
  • Create web apps hosted on embedded platforms and connected devices.
  • Build native and cross‑platform apps that interface with radiation detection instruments.
  • Integrate REST APIs, WebSockets, and backend services; support iOS/Android apps when needed.
  • Contribute to cloud-connected and IoT-enabled applications; participate in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and software teams; participate in Agile development.

Job Summary:

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to develop user-friendly applications that integrate with handheld and stationary radiation detection systems. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining software across embedded, desktop, web, and mobile platforms while working closely with firmware, hardware, systems, and cross-functional engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a full-stack application developer who enjoys building intuitive user experiences, understands how software interfaces with embedded devices, and can contribute throughout the software development lifecycle. This position offers opportunities to work on radiation detection instruments, cloud-connected solutions, and next-generation software platforms. ** US Citizenship is required for this position. Primary Responsibilities
  • Application Development Design, develop, maintain, and enhance desktop, embedded, web, and mobile applications for Teledyne FLIR products.
  • Develop applications using .NET, C#, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, and other modern development technologies.
  • Create intuitive, responsive, and maintainable user interfaces for desktop, web, mobile, and embedded platforms.
  • Design and implement user interfaces for embedded devices operating in constrained hardware environments.
  • Develop and maintain web applications hosted on embedded platforms and connected devices.
  • Develop native and cross-platform applications that interface with radiation detection instruments.
  • Implement and integrate REST APIs, WebSocket communications, and backend services.
  • Support mobile application development for iOS and Android using cross-platform frameworks when appropriate.
  • Contribute to cloud-connected and IoT-enabled application development.
Software Engineering & Product Development
  • Participate in the design, architecture, implementation, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and software engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects in both new and legacy applications.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, well-documented, and secure code.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions.
  • Develop automated tests, unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end validation processes.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Learn and adopt new technologies, frameworks, libraries, and tools to support new product development.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams when required.
Required Qualifications
  • Due to program requirements – you must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience developing desktop, web, mobile, or embedded software applications.
  • Experience developing desktop applications using .NET and C#.
  • Experience developing software in C++, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or related languages.
  • Experience integrating software with hardware devices, embedded systems, or connected products.
  • Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and maintainable application development.
  • Desktop & Web Technologies: Experience with modern desktop UI frameworks such as: WPF, Avalonia, WinUI, Qt, Similar technologies.
  • Experience developing web applications using frameworks such as: Vue.js, React, Angular, Similar technologies.
  • Proficiency with: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, WebSockets.
  • Experience creating and consuming backend services and APIs.
  • Experience with GraphQL is a plus.
  • Mobile Development: Experience developing mobile applications for iOS and Android.
  • Experience with cross-platform frameworks such as: .NET MAUI, Flutter, React Native, Similar technologies.
  • Understanding of mobile deployment, testing, and lifecycle management.
  • Embedded UI Development: Experience developing graphical user interfaces for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with: Qt, Avalonia, LVGL, Similar embedded UI frameworks.
  • Understanding of software development within limited-resource embedded environments.
  • Software Engineering Practices: Experience using source control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking, version control, and continuous integration tools.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in both Windows and Linux development environments.
  • Familiarity with secure software development and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more of the following: C, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, Swift, Java, Kotlin.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Embedded Systems: Experience developing software for embedded Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of ARM processor architectures.
  • Experience with kernel, BSP, or device driver development.
  • Familiarity with: Yocto Project, RTOS configuration, Embedded Linux build systems.
  • Experience with communication protocols including: UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Bluetooth, Ethernet, GPS, Wireless technologies.
  • Cloud & IoT: Experience developing cloud-connected or IoT-enabled applications.
  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms.
  • Experience with: MQTT, WebSockets, Device provisioning, Telemetry, Remote device management.
  • Understanding of edge computing architectures.
  • Backend & Server Development: Experience developing scalable backend services using: .NET, Node.js, Python, Similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization.
  • Domain Knowledge: Background in physics, radiation detection, gamma/neutron spectroscopy, or scientific instrumentation is preferred but not required.
