The Retail Pricing team drives the success of Amazon Retail. We build software that makes billions of monthly pricing recommendations on our marketplaces. The Competitive Pricing team is at the core of Amazon's Retail Pricing strategy. We foster our customers' trust by consistently delivering the lowest prices possible, regardless of where our customers are. We are building new services that radically scale the number of recommendations we make by automating the creation and self-correction of prices, enabling Amazon to delight customers worldwide at a massive scale. We collaborate with product, science, and business teams to figure out new ideas. We innovate by applying state-of-the-art computer science to define, design, and build our systems. To help meet these goals, we are looking for a passionate, talented Software Development Engineer. We are looking for someone who innovates, loves solving hard problems, and looks for 'yes' as the answer. As a Software Development Engineer, you will develop services using your expertise and experience with a variety of technologies. You will deep-dive into distributed systems to design and optimize for performance, maintainability, scalability, and extensibility. You will innovate and scale services, addressing problems that span new feature development to new system creation. You will design and write clean, maintainable code and integrate data from a large number of services. And you will contribute to the development of yourself and colleagues through peer code-reviews and mentoring, improving the technical knowledge and engineering practices of your team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
