Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with exposure to AWS tools and services to help architect state-of-the-art data infrastructure and analytics solutions. Our team is responsible for core data infrastructure, ML/AI, and analytics tools that serve as the backbone for automated satellite testing operations to enable rapid scaling of on-orbit ops and manufacturing processes.
As a Project Kuiper Software Development Engineer you will own the development, implementation and test of software for data pipelines and storage across vehicle test teams. You will work with engineering teams across ground and space systems, to develop and maintain a data platform ingesting multiple data sources and help to ensure readiness for launch operations. You will be focused on building and maintaining infrastructure for data warehousing, loading, transformations and vending.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of software and data engineering and data warehousing best practices.
Key job responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation and support of a data warehousing platform.
• Lead design, implementation, and delivery of a data platform in ambiguous and complex problem spaces.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to define and implement system architectures for integrated test venues.
• Build solutions to manage the many data sources needed to operate our system at large scale.
• Lead technical roadmap definition efforts and decide what features and performance improvements to build.
• Instill best practices for software development documentation, making sure designs meet requirements, delivering high quality software on tight schedules
• Automating and maintaining complex ETL workflows

About the team
The Automated Vehicle Testing team is responsible for core infrastructure and tools that will serve as the backbone of automated satellite testing operations to enable rapid scaling of manufacturing processes.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
