Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for frontend, backend, and API systems.
  • Build and run automated test suites: functional, regression, integration, end-to-end.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and platform engineers to embed quality early in SDLC.
  • Validate workflows: wealth custody, clearing, trading, and servicing processes.
  • Create test data strategies, identify defects, and support release readiness.

As WC&C modernizes and scales its digital platforms, quality engineering and automated testing are critical to ensuring platform reliability, data integrity, and regulatory grade controls.We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to serve as a hands-on quality engineering contributor , embedded within Wealth Technology delivery teams and accountable for building robust automated testing solutions across frontend, backend, and integration layers.Role SummaryThis role is a senior individual contributor position focused on test automation, quality engineering, and software validation in a regulated, production critical environment.You will design, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks, partner closely with developers and product teams, and act as a quality advocate throughout the software development lifecycle. This position emphasizes engineering driven testing , not manual execution, or people management.Core ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for frontend, backend, and API driven systemsBuild and execute automated test suites covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenariosPartner closely with application developers, product managers, and platform engineers to embed quality early in the SDLCValidate system behavior across wealth custody, clearing, trading, and servicing workflowsCreate and maintain test data strategies that support repeatable, reliable automated testingIdentify, document, and track defects while contributing to root cause analysis and defect preventionEnsure applications meet enterprise expectations for accuracy, reliability, resiliency, and regulatory complianceSupport production readiness efforts , including release validation and post deployment issue analysisRequired Experience7+ years of experience in software quality engineering, SDET, or test automation rolesStrong experience working as a hands-on individual contributor embedded within engineering teamsProven ability to design and implement automated testing solutions for complex systemsExperience working in enterprise or regulated environments where quality and control are criticalStrong collaboration skills and the ability to influence quality outcomes without formal authorityDomain Exposure – Wealth & Financial ServicesExposure to wealth management, brokerage, or financial services systems is strongly preferredFamiliarity with validating workflows such as:Account and portfolio lifecycle eventsTrading and order management processesOperational servicing and exception handlingUnderstanding of testing needs related to role-based entitlements, data accuracy, auditability, and controlsExperience supporting systems subject to regulatory oversight (e.g., SEC, FINRA ) is a plusTechnical SkillsStrong proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent)Experience testing API based and microservices architectures , including integration and contract testingFamiliarity with Java, JavaScript, or other backend/frontend languages used for test developmentExperience working with CI/CD pipelines to integrate automated testing into deployment workflowsKnowledge of performance, resiliency, and negative path testing conceptsStrong understanding of testing best practices, quality metrics, and defect managementEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldEquivalent practical experience will be consideredWhy State StreetSupport mission critical wealth platforms used across global custody and clearing marketsOperate as a true quality engineer —writing test code, not managing peoplePartner with experienced engineers and architects on complex, high impact systemsCompetitive compensation, benefits, and a strong technical IC career pathSalary Range:$90,000 - $157,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
