Job summary

Yardi Systems, Inc. in Santa Barbara is seeking a Software Development Engineer I to contribute to design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for military housing operations.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions and ensure high-quality, reliable software. The role emphasizes problem-solving, code quality, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, with opportunities to grow in a collaborative environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent.
• Foundational programming skills in one or more modern languages/frameworks.
• Exposure to relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Working knowledge of software development tools (editors, compilers, debuggers, VCS).
• Understanding of APIs, data structures, debugging, testing, and multi-layer architecture.
• Ability to leverage at least one primary programming language to develop solutions.
• Basic understanding of AI concepts and responsible use of AI-assisted tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail with high accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Time management and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects while ensuring quality and performance.
• Perform unit testing and validation activities for accuracy and interoperability.
• Implement enhancements and approved changes to improve functionality and UX.
• Develop foundational knowledge of software engineering practices and AI technologies.
