Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Global Tax Data (GTD) team in Tax Technology. Based in Seattle, you will support tax professionals in Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance with scalable technology and robust processes to drive efficiency and customer empowerment.

You will collaborate across teams, define requirements, design and roll out solutions, mentor peers, and navigate complex, time-sensitive priorities across the R&C organization.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years in design or architecture of systems.
  • Experience programming in at least one language.

Responsibilities

  • Tackle tax technology challenges with scalable solutions delivered quickly.
  • Lead cross-team efforts with impact across the R&C organization.
  • Be trusted advisors to R&C customers on complex projects.
  • Define requirements, design, build and rollout solutions.

  • Support customers through business cycles, mentoring and troubleshooting.
  • Understand current solutions and invent new capabilities when needed.
  • Own processes or parts of our technology toolset with SME mentorship.
  • Listen to customers and expand our toolset beyond point solutions.

Key job responsibilities
  • Tackle tax technology challenges with scalable solutions delivered in a quick-and-nimble fashion
  • Lead efforts that can involve multiple teams and deliver solutions with impact across the R&C organization
  • Be trusted advisors to their R&C customers and engage on projects with high degrees of complexity and business criticality.
  • Help define requirements, design, build and rollout solutions.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders and manage the complexity of competing needs and timelines.
  • Support customers through their business cycles, mentoring, troubleshooting and running processes as needed.
  • Understand the solutions we have today, applying them where appropriate and inventing new capabilities when needed.
  • Own particular processes and/or parts of our technology toolset, providing subject matter expertise and mentorship
  • Listen to customers across the organization and expand our toolset to the benefit of all, avoiding point solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
