Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC seeks a Data Analyst focused on State and Local Tax compliance to turn tax data into actionable insights. You will analyze reporting data, partner with tax and engineering teams to define requirements, and build data-driven solutions that improve accuracy and efficiency across jurisdictions.

Applicants should bring strong Excel skills, SQL proficiency, and experience translating business needs into technical specifications, with a track record of influencing stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights.
  • Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life

As a Data Analyst focused on State and Local Tax compliance, you'll dive into tax reporting data to uncover insights that drive better decision‑making across our organization. You might start your day analyzing data quality issues in a specific tax jurisdiction, then collaborate with our tax and engineering teams to define requirements for a new reporting feature. You'll work with colleagues to understand their pain points in current processes, then translate those insights into data‑driven solutions. Your work bridges the gap between our tax experts and our technical teams, ensuring everyone has the information they need to do their best work. You'll also have opportunities to develop new metrics that help us measure the effectiveness of our tax data initiatives.

We are a collaborative group of tax professionals, data specialists, and engineers working together to modernize how Amazon manages its tax obligations. Our team serves internal stakeholders across the company who depend on accurate, timely tax data to make critical business decisions. We're focused on building scalable solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and planning. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to my mission of creating transparent, reliable tax processes that support Amazon's growth. You'll work alongside people who are committed to continuous improvement and who value both technical excellence and deep tax knowledge.

Basic Qualifications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
