Job summary

Audible is seeking a Software Development Engineer to define and refine the tech powering the world's leading audiobook creator and provider. You will develop, test, and maintain software components, collaborate with stakeholders, and apply engineering principles to solve problems for millions of listeners.

You will work in an agile environment, contribute to design reviews, and mentor peers while building scalable solutions that improve performance and reliability across the platform.

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one general‑purpose programming language (Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript).
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and OO design principles.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/related STEM or enrollment/completion in a relevant program.
• Must be 18 years or older.

• Identify and resolve defects via code review, log analysis, and debugging.
• Write maintainable, scalable code as part of an agile team.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will...

• Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for the world's largest audiobook creator and provider
• Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods
• Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile engineering team
• Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer‑centric software that inspires and impacts users
• Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems
• Continuously enhance testability, operational excellence (OE), and documentation for owned software components
• Handle data classification, storage, and management in accordance with company policies
• Participate in the interview process and provide mentorship to fellow engineers

Requirements

• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
• Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object‑oriented design principles
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields OR completed a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in specified fields
• Must be 18 years of age or older
